You are not stuck like this

There is nothing wrong with you, You are not alone, The thoughts you are having are common, I’ve had them too. Many people share these feelings to varying degrees, with some experiencing them more intensely. We have fear of failure, we have fear of success. We’re afraid to do something, we’re afraid we’ll do nothing. Many of us can’t cope because we are too bogged down with concerns over whether or not we are good enough. Our thoughts and feelings consume us and often make us miserable.

The feelings of emotion are chemicals released from our brain.  Our thoughts keep firing old signals from past experiences. When we recall past experiences, our emotions surface as if those events are occurring in the present. This is because our brain treats this past event like it’s happening right now. It doesn't matter if it's just in our head or if it's happening for real; our brain will react in the same way and make us feel those same emotions all over again.   Why not use this to our advantage?

When we repeatedly think about past events, our brain continues to produce the same emotional responses. The same thing happens when we think about the future, If we think about something that causes us anxiety, we will feel anxiety regardless of if it’s real or an image in our mind.  Our brain is constantly sending chemicals from our past experiences or our future fears and we are trapped in a spiral of negative emotion.  It's important to understand that this repetitive emotional response is a natural brain function, not a flaw in our character or emotional strength. Recognizing this can be the first step toward breaking the cycle and creating a healthier emotional pattern.

“Your brain is like a supercomputer and your self-talk is the program it runs.”

Think of the brain as a supercomputer that has run the program of past experiences and future fears for years.  It is so efficient that it has come up with shortcuts as to how to more quickly arrive at the chemical release (emotion) needed for every situation, this is your default mode.   The goal of this journal is to assist you in changing your default mode.

By practicing more presence and telling your mind what you want from it (positive mindset) instead of it telling you,  you can evolve your brain and use it as the tool it was meant to be.  Awareness makes this possible.

Becoming aware of these patterns allows us to shift, reprogram and transform them. This journal will help you to create new shortcuts and change the programming. It will help you recondition the body-mind with meditations and mindful exercises aimed at keeping you in the present moment and paying attention to the thought-emotion cycle.

“If we give our minds the right tools, we can significantly affect our happiness.”
